About Your Hosts

In their professional lives, Chris and Frances have worked extensively overseas – from Bogota to Budapest and from Jakarta to Japan – and met whilst both were working in Asia. Chris worked in the world of stockbroking, Frances for Her Majesty’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Both were part of the British Embassy welcome party in Indonesia for HRH Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Despite their diverse backgrounds – which include organising Highland Games in Jakarta, playing rugby with the Royal Navy in Lima – the place they love best is Milngavie with its easy access to city, countryside and cycling.

Campbells Have Lived Here For 50 Years

The family built ‘Pleasant Hill’ within the garden grounds of the 200-year-old main house where they have lived for >50 years. For the past two decades, the villa has hosted family & friends’ gatherings (including homecomings), weddings and milestone celebrations as well as memorials and reunions (including respectful hen and stag groups).

It’s a Privilege to Help You Relax

Often unpacking & stacking a grocery order so that everything is already chilling in the kitchen, Chris & Frances take pride in seeing guests arrive, relax and unwind in the spacious living areas, and consider it their privilege to lend a hand when large numbers are being entertained. On request, they will prepare and serve formal or informal meals. [The family is lucky to have trained cooks who have catered for large ski chalets, wedding reception parties and national sports teams.] Very reasonable prices are available for family meals – breakfasts, picnic lunches, afternoon teas and evening meals – whilst guests enjoy the freedom to host their own party without all the worry or hassle.
