Voted Scotland’s Most Beautiful Mainland Town
Milngavie is ranked Scotland’s most beautiful mainland town centre and is one of Glasgow’s most sought-after semi-urban/semi-rural areas with easy access to both city centre and contrasting rural escapes. The village is situated on the edge of the beautiful Mugdock Country Park. With proximity to stunning scenery everywhere to be seen, Milngavie remains one of the most beautiful and rewarding places to live in Scotland.
About the Area

About Your Hosts
In their professional lives, Chris and Frances have worked extensively overseas – from Bogota to Budapest and from Jakarta to Japan – and met whilst both were working in Asia. Chris worked in the world of stockbroking, Frances for Her Majesty’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Both were part of the British Embassy welcome party in Indonesia for HRH Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Despite their diverse backgrounds – which include organising Highland Games in Jakarta, playing rugby with the Royal Navy in Lima – the place they love best is Milngavie with its easy access to city, countryside and cycling.
Campbells Have Lived Here For 50 Years
The family built ‘Pleasant Hill’ within the garden grounds of the 200-year-old main house where they have lived for >50 years. For the past two decades, the villa has hosted family & friends’ gatherings (including homecomings), weddings and milestone celebrations as well as memorials and reunions (including respectful hen and stag groups).
It’s a Privilege to Help You Relax
Often unpacking & stacking a grocery order so that everything is already chilling in the kitchen, Chris & Frances take pride in seeing guests arrive, relax and unwind in the spacious living areas, and consider it their privilege to lend a hand when large numbers are being entertained. On request, they will prepare and serve formal or informal meals. [The family is lucky to have trained cooks who have catered for large ski chalets, wedding reception parties and national sports teams.] Very reasonable prices are available for family meals – breakfasts, picnic lunches, afternoon teas and evening meals – whilst guests enjoy the freedom to host their own party without all the worry or hassle.

Chris and Frances were fabulous, welcoming and obliging hosts, with encyclopaedic local knowledge, which they were more than happy to share, from nearby walks and activities to superb recommendations for restaurants and amenities. We had a late change of bedding arrangements which Chris was only too happy to amend after we arrived, even offering to do so while we were out for dinner, to ensure minimal disturbance. Our hosts truly went above and beyond when one of our guests had some unexpected car trouble and within minutes Chris was on the scene with the right equipment to get the problem sorted! Absolutely first class from Pleasant Hill - we will recommend to all friends and family, and will surely be back.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Jamie I2023-10-25We stayed for a couple of nights in October with a wedding party, the location was great, quiet yet very close to both the resovoir and Milngavie. The villa was kept in a great condition and is well stocked with everything you would need, the hosts were more than accomodating for any of our needs. They even left a little treat with home made brownies that were fantastic. All in all was a great choice for the stay and will definitely be back!Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Edmund McFadyen2023-10-25Splendid large house, well equipped and appointed. I was there for a stag weekend and it was perfect. The hosts were friendly and the chocolate fudge cake they had baked for our arrival was a delicious bonus. The hot tub was lovely to chill in after a long day and the house was very spacious even though there was 20 of us. Highly recommend pleasant hill and a big thank you to Chris and Frances for their hosting
